#HeadspaceStories: Headspace sits down with Andrew Boas from Data Dwell for our latest blog
Headspace recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Sales Director of Data Dwell Andrew Boas to discuss digital asset management, coffee consumption and hobbies outside of work.
Q) Describe your organisation?
A) Data Dwell is an amazing cloud based digital asset management solution to help organizations and departments, such as marketing teams, store their digital assets. This includes images, campaigns, brochures, presentations, metadata and more in one central place. Our system allows companies to search files quickly, convert them if needed and distribute their content globally.
Q) Describe a typical day in your work life?
A) I start with coffee, then another and possibly one more after and then its full throttle working on leads and finding the right contacts to make sure we solve their pain points with our solution. Every day is different which is great. I could be emailing, calling, attending client meetings, exhibitions, travelling and working on strategy. There is coffee at regular intervals throughout the day. And lunch of course. If I bring in my dog, Rocky, I take him out for a walk if he’s not eaten my lunch or gone through the bins in the Headspace office.
Q) Are there any challenges in your job and how do you handle them?
A) Making sure there is enough coffee is often the biggest challenge. Otherwise it's convincing potential clients they need our system, which once they see it, they'll realize they do. Sales is never easy so staying positive with a smile on my face is often a challenge. Fortunately, I also laugh at my own jokes so that tends to work.
Q) What are the top 3 things you do outside of work?
A) There is a life outside work? If there is I’d say shouting at my kids, going to the gym and moaning how much it hurts and making sure my wife doesn’t shout at me for shouting at the kids and moaning about the pain the gym has caused.
Q) What advice would you give someone who is seeking the same line of work?
A) Don’t do it unless you are amazing, like me! But most importantly remember to be positive, believe in yourself and think big. Every no means a yes is closer so never give up.
Q) What is the favourite part of your day?
Q) What are the most important tools, programmes and systems you use for your work?
A) Data Dwell of course. Without it our digital files would be unorganized and I’d find it hard to find images if they were on a server to send to customers. Or I’d have to use a file converter and then something like ‘We Transfer’ to send it which takes too long. Right now though Linkedin and Salesforce are the most important tools for me. Especially as we launch our product in Salesforce in Q2. It’s a game changer.
Q) Finish this sentence: The ideal way to start my day is…
A) With coffee….and not shouting at my kids to hurry up as they’ll be late for the school coach.
Q) What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A) Making customers happy. This comes before anything. Happy clients mean more business. Nothing is more rewarding than hearing how our system has changed the way they work and how much time it saves. Although it’s a close call between that and making sure I eat my lunch before Rocky does.
Q) What is the least favourite part of your job?
A) Being asked to complete interview questionnaires.
